AH Technology Labs is the innovation hub of Albert Heijn, the largest supermarket chain in the Netherlands. As an intern, I worked on the Scan & Preserve project, focusing on reducing food waste through technology. The application allows users to scan fridge contents using their smartphone, leveraging image recognition and barcode scanning to identify food items and provide personalized storage advice.
Key Contributions:
- Developed and tested core features for fridge scanning and food recognition
- Implemented logic for personalized storage and shelf-life advice
- Collaborated with designers, developers, and food experts for a user-friendly solution
Impact:
- Helped users make smarter decisions about food storage
- Contributed to reducing food waste in Dutch households
- Gained valuable experience in software development and innovation
This project demonstrates how technology can make a real difference in everyday life by promoting sustainability and reducing waste.
